NZ U18 Womens compete at IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia

Congratulations to the NZ U18 Womens team who have just finished their competition at the Challenge Cup of Asia, vs Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Chinese Taipei.

The other teams are all senior womens teams, and the NZ team had a 2-2 record, just missing out on a medal. The gold medal was won by Thailand, who NZ beat in a thriller shootout.

The tournament was also notable for NZ’s top goal scorer, Amber Metcalfe, is the first NZ rep to come from the new Wellington Seals Club which has formed over the past two years. We look forward to seeing a lot more talented ice hockey players out of the capital in the future.

Congratulations to the team and all the players. Full statistics can be viewed here.
