Free Online Interactive Video Ice Hockey Training Sessions

Free Online Interactive Video Ice Hockey Training Sessions

As a nation we may still be in lockdown with our local ice rinks closed, however we wanted to share with you a special way you can stay on top of your ice hockey form during this time, all while having a bit of fun!

Auckland Ice Hockey Association are hosting free weekly online interactive ice hockey training sessions, available to all NZIHF members, regardless of where you are in the country.

Lead by AIHA Head Coach Justin Daigle and AIHA General Manager A.J. Spiller, these sessions are open to anyone and are aimed at players of all ages and run twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

Each session is limited to 100 participants and will be split in to the following two age groups:

  • Under 12 and Learn to Play
  • Bantam League, Junior League & Adult League

Simply join the Zoom call for each session at the link below and you’re in!

Schedule: https://www.aiha.org.nz/aiha-interactive-video-training-sessions/

These sessions are free of charge and are open to all NZIHF members and will include the following:

  • 5 minute warm-up
  • 10 minutes of body weight exercises
  • 10 minutes of stickhandling drills
  • 5 minute cool-down

It is recommended that you have a hockey stick and a ball/puck for the stickhandling portion of the training, if you don’t, Justin has come up with some ideas on what you can use instead in one of the recent Hockey at Home videos

Note: All sessions will start sharply on the indicated start time so please be ready to go when you join.

Sessions will also be recorded for future use.

We wish you and your family all the best during this time, and look forward to seeing you all on the ice again soon.

Kind Regards,
New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation
