The 2022 National Under 12 tournament took place over the weekend of 14-16 September, hosted by Canterbury Ice Hockey Association at Alpine Ice Arena, in Christchurch, New Zealand.
19 teams, 140 players and dozens of parents gathered together to enjoy the highlight of the ice hockey calendar. With teams represented from all of New Zealand’s ice hockey clubs playing a total of 200 games over the weekend, this was truly a national competition of epic proportions!
The tournament began on Friday afternoon, as players donned their super hero themed jerseys, ranging from Batman and Spiderman, through to Captain America and The Hulk; and began the first of several round robin match-ups.
After two days of round robin competition, a playoff bracket was announced and saw the Auckland Lanterns take home the Under 12 tournament trophy!
