The New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation and <\/span>Ice Hockey Australia<\/span><\/span> are excited to announce a three game ice hockey series between both countries’ national senior women\u2019s teams, the <\/span>New Zealand Ice Fernz<\/span><\/span> and the Aussie Flyers.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The New Zealand Ice Fernz and Aussie Flyers are no strangers to playing against each other, with both teams having been in the same <\/span>International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF)<\/span><\/span> World Championship division for the last two competitions. As demand for women\u2019s ice hockey continues to grow in both countries, both countries felt there was a need for more international competition.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

NZIHF President Andy Mills said \u201cthis is an exciting time for ice hockey. Our domestic women\u2019s league has been growing in popularity, so the time is right to showcase the spectacle of our national women\u2019s team against our closest rivals Australia.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ice Hockey Australia President, Ryan O\u2019Handley added \u201cI am thrilled to be announcing this series with our friends from New Zealand. We have tremendous momentum behind women’s ice hockey right now and the skill and level of play in the AWIHL continues to increase. It will be an amazing series for our national women’s team and our fans\u201d.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
