The Queenstown Junior Stampede NZMIHL team held their lead over Auckland with two wins at Dunedin Ice Stadium over the Dunedin Junior Thunder, 6-1 and 5-0 on 16 and 17 July. Meanwhile Auckland NZMIHL travelled to Christchurch to take on Canterbury, and won both their high-scoring games 10-6 and 9-5.

Queenstown currently has a narrow lead over Auckland in the competition.
