NZIHF Women’s Triple Star Camp & Youth Development Camp Postponements

NZIHF Women’s Triple Star Camp & Youth Development Camp Postponements

It is with sadness that we are announcing the postponement of both the NZIHF Women’s Triple Star Camp in Dunedin, scheduled for 29th April – 1st May, and the first NZIHF Youth Development Camp in Queenstown, scheduled for 15th – 18th April.

The NZIHF Management Committee met to discuss the feasibility of holding these events as scheduled, and it was determined that the effects of the red traffic light setting, and the expected peak of Omicron cases nationally around the time of these events would necessitate their postponement.

Additionally, the following reasons were fundamental in reaching this decision:

  • The isolation requirements for those who test positive, and those who are deemed close contacts
  • The significant disruption a positive case within the camp would have on the overall event
  • The effects a positive case would have on the wider hockey community, with many key staff members and coaches from clubs around the country present, potentially unable to return home should someone within the camp test positive
  • Restrictions on numbers under the red traffic light setting

Registrations for the remaining NZIHF Youth Development Camps will open in the near future, with these scheduled to take place from June onwards.

A replacement date for the NZIHF Women’s Triple Star event is being worked on at present, and more information about this will be shared soon.
