NZIHF Men’s Triple Star Camp Postponement Announcement

NZIHF Men’s Triple Star Camp Postponement Announcement

It is with sadness that we are announcing the postponement of the Men’s Triple Star Camp, scheduled for 11 – 13th February 2022.

Following yesterday’s announcement by the Government about all of New Zealand moving to the red traffic light setting, the NZIHF’s sub-committee responsible for planning the Triple Star Camp met to discuss the impact this decision would have on the camp.

At the meeting it was unanimously decided to postpone the camp, due to the health and safety risks and operational challenges associated with holding the camp under red settings with Omicron in the community. The following reasons were fundamental in reaching this decision:

  • The new isolation requirements for those who test positive, and those who are deemed close contacts
  • The significant disruption a positive case within the camp would have on the overall event
  • The effects a positive case would have on the wider hockey community, with many key staff members and coaches from clubs around the country present, potentially unable to return home should someone within the camp test positive
  • Restrictions on numbers under the red traffic light setting

All players registered for the camp have been notified of this decision, and those that have paid their registration fees for the camp will receive a full refund in the coming days.

We will communicate more information about a replacement date in the near future.
