Canterbury win 2 nail-biters over Auckland in NZPIHL

Canterbury and Auckland opened the NZ Peewee Ice Hockey League (U14s) this weekend is great fashion, with both games going to extra time, and Saturday’s only decided in a shootout. Canterbury won both games 3-2.

The NZPIHL will have an additional team this season, after defending champion Southern has split into Junior Stampede and Junior Thunder, based in Queenstown and Dunedin respectively. Queenstown opens their season against Auckland at home, 23 July. Dunedin welcomes Canterbury for their first games, 30 July.
