Cancellation of Auckland Youth Development Camp

Cancellation of Auckland Youth Development Camp

It is with sadness that we are announcing the cancellation of the Auckland Youth Development Camp which was due to take place in Auckland on October 22 25.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing uncertainty around travel restrictions and public gatherings, we have had to cancel the event. This means for two years in a row, we have only been able to hold two development camps around the country, however it is pleasing to have seen fantastic participation for the events we were able to hold in Queenstown and Christchurch this year. Feedback from players, parents, and coaches of this standardised national development programme to date has been extremely positive, and we are beginning to see the benefits of this hard work throughout all our clubs and regions.

We are currently working on potentially holding regional mini camps, to replace the previously cancelled Dunedin and newly cancelled Auckland camps and will share more information about this when we can.

A special note to all those who participated in this year’s camps, and those who intended to participate in the Auckland and Dunedin ones – thank you for your continued support and desire to develop your ice hockey skills.

A special thank you is also due to Darren Blong, Neil Carey and all participating coaches, for their dedication and ongoing work to develop our youth ice hockey programme in New Zealand.

We now look forward to a hopefully uninterrupted 2022 where we can resume the full operation of our youth development programme.
