New Zealand will host two IIHF World Championship tournaments in 2025: the World Women’s IIB from April 14–20 and the World Men’s IIB from April 27–May 3.
These tournaments mark the first time New Zealand has hosted both premier men’s and women’s events in the same year. It will also be the first time the New Zealand Ice Fernz compete in a championship on home ice since 2013, and the first for the New Zealand Ice Blacks since 2017.
Both tournaments will take place at Dunedin Ice Stadium, with tournament passes and single game tickets available now.
2025 promises to be an action-packed year for hockey fans in New Zealand. In March, Auckland will host the New Zealand vs. Australia Trans-Tasman Challenge for both countries’ men’s teams, followed by the two World Championship events in April and May.
The World Women’s tournament will feature teams from Australia, Belgium, Hong Kong China, Türkiye, Ukraine, and New Zealand. Meanwhile, the World Men’s tournament will welcome teams from Bulgaria, Chinese Taipei, Georgia, Iceland, Thailand, and New Zealand.
