The 2017 Trans Tasman Challenge Series, as part of the 2017 Audi quattro Winter Games, began on Thursday night with a hard fought victory for the New Zealand Ice Blacks over the Australia Mighty Roos in Game 1, with the final score 4-1. Game two saw Australia rebound, 2-0. The final game was tied 3-3 after regulation, and Australia prevailed in the shootout.
