Ticketing information for the 2017 Audi quattro Winter Games Trans Tasman Challenge: New Zealand Ice Blacks v Australia.
The Audi quattro Winter Games NZ are proud to present The Trans-Tasman challenge, a three game test series of international Ice Hockey on 7th, 8th and 9th of September.
The Queenstown Ice Hockey Club are hosting this feast of international ice hockey and we are able to offer our ice hockey community the chance to get in and buy tickets ahead of the general public.
QIHC have ensured family pass and multi-game pricing to keep it as affordable as possible. An equal share of profits from the Trans-Tasman Challenge will go to the Queenstown Ice Hockey Club, NZIHL and IHA to fund our respective ice hockey programmes.
This is a true battle of two rival sporting nations. Both underdogs in the international Ice hockey world that punch well above their weight. This will be a brutal encounter of epic proportion with both teams out to prove their dominance. New Zealand and Australia have recently returned from their divisional world championships.
New Zealand played China, DPR Korea, Turkey, Israel and Mexico to earn a hard fought Silver medal in their own divisional world championship. Only one win away from promotion to IIHF Division 2 Group A. Australia has just returned from a successful world championships in Romania also earning a Silver medal in Division 2 Group A against Romania, Serbia, Belgium, Iceland and Spain.
These two teams are separated by only one division and last met in 2016 in Mexico with a hard fought 6-2 win to Australia which saw them win gold and promotion. With this in mind The Ice Blacks will be out for redemption and prove their superiority on home ice.
